My First Home

Yeah, not the first house though, 305, Arihany Ashrey, Begumpet is definately the first home we had (we is to denote only friends). Started residing in HYD with 1st house in Panjagutta, a scary 7th floor house. A single house at the top of a residential complex and trust me the scariest one. Then moved to C 40 in Majestic Mansion in Begumpet. House owner Mr. Venkat was a nice guy but my then roommate, Mr. Vinay Ghai from DCE (Mr. is not out of respect, but with Sarcasm :-)). Ghai sahab was a roommate, is a friend and a great collegue. He was also part of the Sales Engineers in Sify but in Enterprise Applications division.
Then, we moved into 305 where ICFAI guys Mayank n Anuj were staying with our sweet champu GE friend, Mr. Puneet Sharda. A house which had the facilities generally un-available in Bachelor houses. We had a working Kitchen and cook (Amma) and another maid for cleaning and washing clothes. As a bachelor, I can still say, "the life became much simpler".
Then my 2.8 years in 305 saw people changing:
- First Vinay got a transfer to Delhi since his mom wasnt keeping well n he wanted to study for his MBA
- then Puneet moved out went to kolkata for sometime. during the same time Mayank and Anuj also moved out. Mayank n Anuj helped us unknowingle seeing few nice babes in HYD when Preet used to come to house to visit them!
- Then I had to quickly search for new 5 bachelors for this 3BHK flat.
- Luckily got to meet Shishir Maithani from DCE who was working in Polaris that time. My best ever Sales pitch ;-) helped me convincing Shishir, Hemant Diwedi, Ravi Panjwani and Himanshu Shah (all working for Polaris) to move in with me. 305 somehow survived in my life n in this Blog.
- Then the life was good. All of us had a really good time and enjoyed our lives of 305.
- Then one day Hemant moved to Chennai with CTS.
- Then Mr. Siddharth Khanna, another DCEite, was also moving to HYD from MUM. Panju n him were close because of their intial training at Polaris. Khanna is with Oracle
- Khanna moved in n we were again 5 people.
- Same time we got our cute elder friend Mr. Srinivas Kandala, hailing from Orissa n working for Polaris and loves giving gyan about "blody Indians", also into 305. Zindagi mast ho gayi thi. All of us combined had a great time.
- Then aftersometime, Kandala went onsite.
- Then for few months my childhood friend, Hemant Kumar Singh (Babu) came to stay with us. This is when me, babu, panju and Chirag Dhingra (a.k.a. chiggu - another childhood friend) went to Machalipatnam on bike.
- Then Kandala followed.
- The shortly Panju also went onsite. All these guys went to UK.
- Now it was me, khanna and Himanshu Shah left in the house.
- Khanna got hold of Shakeel Kadam from Pune, working for Oracle, to come in. He is a guy who is the best when it comes to enjoying and chilling in life.
- Shortly another DCEite, Mr. Siddharth Gupta also joined us.
- Then Shakeel left for MUM
- Himanshu also changed his job n went to Gurgaon.
- Now was the time of making mistake. and Bingo, we did. We got Mr. Srikanth (on high recommendations of Amit Prabhaker) also into our House.
- Differences started creeping in.
- Sidgu moved to BLR and then I got Aniruddha Baskaran from Sify into 305.
- Then I left with Siddharth Khanna missing all of us like anything. so I do keep visiting him as n when I find time!! Me and Khanna got into a great friendship once all others had left 305.

BUT ALL IN ALL, 305 is a memory/phase of my life which can never be replaced.

btw, in the pic u see khanna n me playing carrom.

My First Job

This is where I spent my 3 years in Sify Limited, Hyderabad. Started as a Sales Engineer Trainee - Enterprise Solutions on 6th August 2003. Moved to Account Manager 2A in August 2004 (1 year probabtion). Was then promoted to Account Manager 2B in March 2005 and was promoted to Key Account Manager in October 2005. Left Sify on 25th July 2006 as Key Account Manager handling the biggest customers for Sify in Andhra Pradesh. Sify has taught me a lot and I dont lie when I say that. "I thank Sify for making me what I am."

Though 2 people who made my career were:
1. Cherian Thomas - The Regional Manager when I was the Key Account Manager who trusted me at every point and had given me the fredom to handle my customers the right way! Thanks Sir.
2. Ramesh Kumar - My first boss. The reason I have put him 2nd in line is because there is so much to write about him that Cherian's paragraph would have gone un-noticeable. My fist boss, the reason for me where I am today. The reason for me what I am today. A person who guided me whenever I needed the help, who gave me the opportunity to fall and learn from my mistakes. A person who told me that Sales people are also Ethical. A person who told me how to present what you want to communicate. A person who took bold decisions like,
  • When all other Sales Engineer Trainees were pushed by their bosses to do 15 calls in a day, Ramesh sir was ok with me doing 3-4 calls in a day

  • When location heads were sent for ISO training, I was the only Sales Engineer Trainee who was sent by his boss to get trained on ISO

  • When other Sales Engineer Trainees were leaving their jobs, he, while quitting, ensured that organisation gets to know the potential and starts giving me bigger roles and responsibilities

Result : When all other sales engineer trainees in total nationally did 20 laks of business, I did 40+ lakhs alone. When all other sales engineer traines nationally did 32 lakhs, my numbers were close to 95 lakhs. When the senior Account Managers who used to do Annual bookings of 3.8 crores in bigger markets that HYD, I used to 4.3 crores. When other Key Account Managers were people with minimum 4+ years of sales experience, I was made a KAM with 2 years of experience.

The people who definately have made my career in terms of understanding what Sify / technology / sales all about are the people who's name I would like that mention specially. Veerender (PMG, for the technical and road direction related help), Ashwin (for being a nice friend), Lalit kumar Pandey (PMG, tech again), V. Vijaykumar (mastlog, bhailog), Navaneeth sir (best collegue one can have), Ali sir, Narayan sir, Vijay Krishna sir, Mila Dev, Ashwinth MR, Sai Prasad, RVSS Prasad, Vijayraj, Sudeepto Dutta, lots n lots of ppl in Chennai and other locations, Anuj Malhotra sir ............... n on n on n on .................

Time for some more snaps

My Farewell cake ............ I was the last person to reach for the farewell ;-)

This is our first trip to Machalipatnam. We did 784 kms on bike. 10 hours of drive while going and 8 hours while on our way back. This is the trip where I could actually drive my bike on the beach! it is too good as an experience.
